About us

The National Alliance on Mental Illness of McHenry County (NAMI-MC) is a non-profit, all volunteer organization dedicated to improving the lives of people who are affected by mental illness.  NAMI-MC offers an array of free services including self-help groups, family education, community education and advocacy.  NAMI-MC is an affiliate of NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness).  NAMI is a non-profit organization with more than 210,000 members in all fifty states.

An overview brochure of our resources and a membership application form is available: NAMI-MC Resources

Like many NAMI members, our president, Merna Drewno, has direct experience with mental illness.  Her President's Message is a heartfelt narrative of her first son's mental illness, and how it led to becoming involved with NAMI.
