About us
T he
National Alliance on Mental
Illness of McHenry County (NAMI-MC) is a
non-profit, all volunteer organization dedicated to
improving the lives of people who are affected by
mental illness.
NAMI-MC offers an array of free services
including self-help groups, family education,
community education and advocacy. NAMI-MC is an affiliate of NAMI
(National Alliance on Mental Illness). NAMI
is a non-profit organization with more than 210,000
members in all fifty states.

Like many NAMI members, our president, Merna Drewno,
has direct experience with mental
illness.
Her

of her first son's mental illness, and how it led to
becoming involved with NAMI.

Whether
you or someone you love is affected by mental
illness, NAMI can offer you help
and hope. Support groups meet monthly to
provide friendship and understanding in a caring and
sharing atmosphere. Talking with others who have
been there can help you develop insight, knowledge
and coping skills.
NAMI
support and education programs are organized by our
volunteer staff who are specially trained and
certified. There is no fee to participate.

AWARENESS WALK
Our annual
walk will be held on Saturday, October 4, in
Crystal Lake at Veteran Acres Park.
Please consider walking with us,
volunteering to work on the date of the
walk, or supporting our volunteer programs
through your contributions and sponsorships.
