NAMI-MC offers an array of educational opportunities for those whose lives are affected by mental illness. Whether you wish to participate in a class, or choose to help raise awareness and extend hope to others by training to be a teacher or group leader, NAMI-MC has a wide variety of educational programs made available to the McHenry County community.

For more information about these or any other programs, please call our helpline at (815) 444-9991.

EDUCATION CLASSES

The twelve-week FAMILY-TO-FAMILY class is designed for family caregivers of any individual with severe mental illness.  It is suggested that attendees for the Family-to-Family class be at least 14 years of age.  More information can be found at:  Family-to-Family

The NAMI BASICS class is targeted to caregivers of children, adolescents and young adults up to age 18.  It provides caregivers with the fundamentals of caring for you, your family, and your child with mental illness.  More information can be found at: NAMI Basics

Trained leaders who have lived with the challenges of mental illness in their families teach the classes.  There is no charge for either class or for the instructional materials that will be provided.
