NAMI Support and Education: Whether you or someone you love is affected by mental illness, NAMI can offer you help and hope. Support groups provide friendship and understanding in a caring and sharing atmosphere. Talking with others who have been there can help provide you with insight, knowledge and coping skills.

SUPPORT GROUPS OFFERED BY NAMI-MC

GENERAL: Meetings follow the 7:00 p.m. monthly meeting, which is held on the 3rd Thursday of each month at the McHenry County Mental Health Board, 620 Dakota St., Crystal Lake

DUAL DIAGNOSIS: For families of loved ones who struggle with both mental illness and an alcohol or drug problem.  Meetings are held at the NAMI-McHenry County offices on the first Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m.

NAMI-C.A.R.E.  (Consumers Advocating Recovery through Empowerment): A peer-based program led by trained consumers for individuals facing the challenges of recovering from a serious mental illness.  The group meets twice a month: on the 3rd Thursday at the McHenry County Mental Health Board, 620 Dakota Street, Crystal Lake, following the 7:00 p.m. meeting, and on the 2nd Monday at the NAMI-McHenry County offices at 7:00 p.m.

RECOVERY INC.  A self-help mental health support group led by trained consumers which uses cognitive behavioral methods.  More information is available at 815-338-5609, 50@recovery-inc.org and www.recovery-inc.org The group meets every Tuesday at the NAMI-McHenry County offices at 7:00 p.m.
